Woodpeckers

Today I woke up to hearing beautiful birds singing and squirrels chasing each other to see who would get the nut. Then I saw a woodpecker, we don't see them much. So I got my camera out and took a few pictures. Every few pictures he went a little further until he flew away.

A few hours later I was doing my homework when I looked out the window and saw chips of wood going into the air. I looked a little closer and I saw a huge wood pecker. In about a second I had the camera on. I yelled down the hall and told my mom that there was a huge woodpecker outside.

We got a bunch of pictures. Later on that day we looked the woodpecker up. It was a Pileated Woodpecker with a wingspan of 29inches and from the tip of its beak to the end of its tail it's 16 and a half inches.

When the Pileated woodpecker flew away I went out to see all of the holes that he made. When I got there. One of the first things I saw was a fancy W. Before he pecked the W there was already a little line, but he made the line into something on accident I guess.

W for Woodpecker.

After I was done taking pictures and doing homework I sat down in front of a window and watched nature do its business.
